Knowing that Heartland Tanning delivers on education and training, nearly 300 salon professionals attended the company’s 8th Annual Southeast Tanning Expo in Atlanta.
The event’s first day focused upon salon operator certification and Norvell University Basic and Master airbrush training by Norvell Skin Solutions. The second day’s agenda was emceed by Joe Schuster of ist Magazine and featured product education, an open tradeshow floor and a keynote presentation from Joe titled “A New Day, A New Way!” focused on salon operations and sales. Joe also spoke about Sun Is Life®, ist Magazine’s revolutionary, online, interactive salon training and education program. “Joe was the best!” exclaimed Peggy Garred, owner of The Sun Deck Tanning Salon in Cumming, GA. “As an emcee, he kept everything entertaining and flowing smoothly, and his presentation offered 12 different ways I can differentiate my salon through customer service. I’m very excited to share what I’ve learned with my staff and incorporate these tips into the way we do business.” Peggy, who’s a regular at Heartland Tanning expos, says she looks forward to attending Heartland’s Southeast Expo next year, as well.
Melissa Woods, owner of Fleming Island Tanning in Fleming Island, FL, found the Expo to be very educational. “This was my first time attending a Heartland event and it was amazing!” she exclaimed. “As an owner, I want to offer only the best, most effective tanning lotions to my clients, and I really learned a lot about the new products at the Expo. It was great meeting Jay Standard, my Heartland rep, who introduced me to Danielle Ardito (Devoted Creations). She answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful.” Melissa also earned her Master’s certification in airbrush tanning from Norvell Skin Solutions’ Norvell University, which was presented at the event. “Steve Edwards and Steve Pirtle did a wonderful job explaining the new Norvell solution and how best to apply it, and they even spoke with me after their presentation,” she added.
The event included many giveaways, with Michael Schenden from Beyond Bronze in Oakwood, GA winning the grand prize – a Norvell Skin Solutions mobile sunless system valued at $1,500. Stacy Carroll of Just Beachy Tanning in Woodstock, AL won a $1,500 new equipment credit from Heartland, the event’s other grand prize. An additional $15,000 in prizes donated by the Expo’s participating vendors were awarded to 30 lucky salon attendees.
At the conclusion of the two-day event, everyone at Heartland Tanning was looking at the success of the show and how it might affect next year’s Southeast Expo. “This was our first year hosting the event at Atlantic Station, which is a live, eat, work and play destination, and our attendees loved it!” exclaimed John Fromme, Heartland Equipment Sales Manager. “The location had everything from fine clothing stores to nightclubs and restaurants, and we received a lot of positive feedback on this as well as the educational opportunities at the Expo. All in all, the event was a hit and it’s a sure sign of more good things to come.”
Heartland Tanning thanks its participating vendors, including Norvell Skin Solutions, whose Z3000 airbrush tanning system demonstrations were a big hit on the Expo floor. Attendees also enjoyed the Heartland Tan SunDazzler and 5400 tanning units that were on display.
